بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful.
1
ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَجَعَلَ ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ وَٱلنُّورَ ۖ ثُمَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِرَبِّهِمْ يَعْدِلُونَ al-ḥamdu lillāhil ladhī khalaqas samāwāti wal-arḍa waja`alaẓ ẓulumāti wan nūr ۖ thummal ladhīna kafarū birabbihim ya`dilūn ALL PRAISE BE to God who created the heavens and the earth, and ordained darkness and light. Yet the unbelievers make the others equal of their Lord.
2
هُوَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُم مِّن طِينٍ ثُمَّ قَضَىٰٓ أَجَلًا ۖ وَأَجَلٌ مُّسَمًّى عِندَهُۥ ۖ ثُمَّ أَنتُمْ تَمْتَرُونَ huwal ladhī khalaqakum min ṭīnin thumma qaḍā ajalā ۖ wa-ajalun musamman `indah ۖ thumma antum tamtarūn It is He who created you from clay then determined a term (of life) for you, and a term (is fixed) with Him. Even then you doubt.
3
وَهُوَ ٱللَّهُ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَفِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ يَعْلَمُ سِرَّكُمْ وَجَهْرَكُمْ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تَكْسِبُونَ wahuwallāhu fis samāwāti wafil-arḍ ۖ ya`lamu sirrakum wajahrakum waya`lamu mā taksibūn He is God in the heavens and the earth. He knows what you hide and bring out into the open, and knows what you earn (of good and evil).
4
وَمَا تَأْتِيهِم مِّنْ ءَايَةٍ مِّنْ ءَايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَ wa mā ta-tīhim min āyatim min āyāti rabbihim illā kānū `anhā mu`riḍīn Yet no sign of their Lord comes to them but they turn away from it.
5
فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِٱلْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَهُمْ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَأْتِيهِمْ أَنۢبَـٰٓؤُا۟ مَا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ faqad kadhhabū bil ḥaqqi lammā jā-ahum ۖ fasawfa ya-tīhim anbā-u mā kānū bihi yastahzi-ūn So they disbelieved the truth when it came to them; but they will soon come to know the reality of what they had ridiculed.
6
أَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ كَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّن قَرْنٍ مَّكَّنَّـٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مَا لَمْ نُمَكِّن لَّكُمْ وَأَرْسَلْنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيْهِم مِّدْرَارًا وَجَعَلْنَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرَ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهِمْ فَأَهْلَكْنَـٰهُم بِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَأَنشَأْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ قَرْنًا ءَاخَرِينَ alam yaraw kam ahlaknā min qablihim min qarnin makkannāhum fil-arḍi mā lam numakkin lakum wa-arsalnas samā-a `alayhim midrāran waja`alnal-anhāra tajrī min taḥtihim fa-ahlaknāhum bidhunūbihim wa-ansha-nā min ba`dihim qarnan ākharīn Do they not see how many generations We laid low before them, whom We had firmly established in the land as We have not established you, and showered abundant rain on them, and made rivers lap at their feet, yet whom We destroyed for their sins, and raised new generations after them?
7
وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ كِتَـٰبًا فِى قِرْطَاسٍ فَلَمَسُوهُ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ لَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ walaw nazzalnā `alayka kitāban fī qirṭāsin falamasūhu bi-aydīhim laqālal ladhīna kafarū in hādhā illā siḥrun mubīn Even if We had sent you a transcript on paper which they could feel with their hands, the unbelievers would have said: "This is nothing but clear sorcery."
8
وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ مَلَكٌ ۖ وَلَوْ أَنزَلْنَا مَلَكًا لَّقُضِىَ ٱلْأَمْرُ ثُمَّ لَا يُنظَرُونَ waqālū lawlā unzila `alayhi malak ۖ walaw anzalnā malakal laquḍiyal-amru thumma lā yunẓarūn They say: "How is it no angel was sent down to him?" Had We sent an angel down the matter would have come to end, and they would have had no respite.
9
وَلَوْ جَعَلْنَـٰهُ مَلَكًا لَّجَعَلْنَـٰهُ رَجُلًا وَلَلَبَسْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّا يَلْبِسُونَ walaw ja`alnāhu malakal laja`alnāhu rajulan walalabasnā `alayhim mā yalbisūn Even if We had sent down an angel as messenger he would have appeared in the garb of a man and filled them with confusion, like the one they are filled with.
10
وَلَقَدِ ٱسْتُهْزِئَ بِرُسُلٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَحَاقَ بِٱلَّذِينَ سَخِرُوا۟ مِنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ walaqadis-tuhzi-a birusulin min qablika faḥāqa bil ladhīna sakhirū minhum mā kānū bihi yastahzi-ūn Surely the apostles have been mocked before you; but what they had mocked rebounded on the mockers themselves.
11
قُلْ سِيرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ثُمَّ ٱنظُرُوا۟ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ qul sīrū fil-arḍi thumman-ẓurū kayfa kāna `āqibatul mukadhhibīn Say: "Travel in the land and see what happened to those who disbelieved."
12
قُل لِّمَن مَّا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ قُل لِّلَّهِ ۚ كَتَبَ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ ٱلرَّحْمَةَ ۚ لَيَجْمَعَنَّكُمْ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ ۚ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ qul liman mā fis samāwāti wal-arḍ ۖ qul lillāh ۚ kataba `alā nafsihir raḥmah ۚ layajma`annakum ilā yawmil qiyāmati lā rayba fīh ۚ alladhīna khasirū anfusahum fahum lā yu-minūn And ask: "To whom belongs what is in the heavens and the earth?" Say: "To God." He has prescribed grace for Himself. He will gather you on the Day of Resurrection which is certain to come. Only they who are lost of soul will not come to believe.
13
وَلَهُۥ مَا سَكَنَ فِى ٱلَّيْلِ وَٱلنَّهَارِ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ walahu mā sakana fil layli wan nahār ۚ wahuwas samī`ul `alīm Whatsoever dwells in the night and day belongs to Him. He is all-hearing and all-knowing.
14
قُلْ أَغَيْرَ ٱللَّهِ أَتَّخِذُ وَلِيًّا فَاطِرِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَهُوَ يُطْعِمُ وَلَا يُطْعَمُ ۗ قُلْ إِنِّىٓ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ ۖ وَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ qul aghayrallāhi attakhidhu waliyyan fāṭiris samāwāti wal-arḍi wahuwa yuṭ`imu walā yuṭ`am ۗ qul innī umirtu an akūna awwala man aslam ۖ walā takūnanna minal mushrikīn Say: "Should I find some other protector besides God the Creator of the heavens and the earth, who nourishes all and is nourished by none? Say: "I am commanded to be the first to submit to Him, and not be an idolater."
15
قُلْ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ إِنْ عَصَيْتُ رَبِّى عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ qul innī akhāfu in `aṣaytu rabbī `adhāba yawmin `aẓīm Say: "If I disobey my Lord, I fear the punishment of a grievous Day."
16
مَّن يُصْرَفْ عَنْهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ فَقَدْ رَحِمَهُۥ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْمُبِينُ man yuṣraf `anhu yawma-idhin faqad raḥimah ۚ wadhālikal fawzul mubīn Whosoever is spared that Day will surely have mercy shown to him, and this will be a clear triumph.
17
وَإِن يَمْسَسْكَ ٱللَّهُ بِضُرٍّ فَلَا كَاشِفَ لَهُۥٓ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ وَإِن يَمْسَسْكَ بِخَيْرٍ فَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ wa in yamsaskallāhu biḍurrin falā kāshifa lahu illā huw ۖ wa in yamsaska bikhayrin fahuwa `alā kulli shay-in qadīr If God sends you harm, there is no one but He who can take it away; and if He bring you good, surely He has power over everything.
18
وَهُوَ ٱلْقَاهِرُ فَوْقَ عِبَادِهِۦ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلْحَكِيمُ ٱلْخَبِيرُ wahuwal qāhiru fawqa `ibādih ۚ wahuwal ḥakīmul khabīr It is He who prevails over His creatures, and He is all-wise and aware.
19
قُلْ أَىُّ شَىْءٍ أَكْبَرُ شَهَـٰدَةً ۖ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ ۖ شَهِيدٌۢ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكُمْ ۚ وَأُوحِىَ إِلَىَّ هَـٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانُ لِأُنذِرَكُم بِهِۦ وَمَنۢ بَلَغَ ۚ أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَشْهَدُونَ أَنَّ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ ءَالِهَةً أُخْرَىٰ ۚ قُل لَّآ أَشْهَدُ ۚ قُلْ إِنَّمَا هُوَ إِلَـٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ وَإِنَّنِى بَرِىٓءٌ مِّمَّا تُشْرِكُونَ qul ayyu shay-in akbaru shahādah ۖ qulillāh ۖ shahīdun baynī wabaynakum ۚ wa-ūḥiya ilayya hādhal qur-ānu li-undhirakum bihi wa man balagh ۚ a-innakum latash-hadūna anna ma`allāhi ālihatan ukhrā ۚ qul lā ash-had ۚ qul innamā huwa ilāhun wāḥidun wa innanī barī-un mimmā tushrikūn Ask: "Of all things what is most vital as evidence?" Say: "God (who) is witness between you and me that this Qur'an has been revealed to me that I may warn you on its strength, and those whom it reaches. Do you really bear witness there are other gods with God?" Tell them: "I bear no such Witness." Say: "Verily He is the only God, and I am clear of what you associate (with Him)."
20
ٱلَّذِينَ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ يَعْرِفُونَهُۥ كَمَا يَعْرِفُونَ أَبْنَآءَهُمُ ۘ ٱلَّذِينَ خَسِرُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ فَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ alladhīna ātaynāhumul kitāba ya`rifūnahu kamā ya`rifūna abnā-ahum ۘ alladhīna khasirū anfusahum fahum lā yu-minūn Those to whom We have given the Book know it distinctly as they know their sons; but those who are lost of soul do not believe.
21
وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفْتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا أَوْ كَذَّبَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِهِۦٓ ۗ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفْلِحُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ wa man aẓlamu mimmanif-tarā `alallāhi kadhiban aw kadhhaba bi-āyātih ۗ innahu lā yufliḥuẓ ẓālimūn And who is more wicked than he who invents lies about God or denies His revelations? Surely the wicked will not succeed.
22
وَيَوْمَ نَحْشُرُهُمْ جَمِيعًا ثُمَّ نَقُولُ لِلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوٓا۟ أَيْنَ شُرَكَآؤُكُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ كُنتُمْ تَزْعُمُونَ wayawma naḥshuruhum jamī`an thumma naqūlu lilladhīna ashrakū ayna shurakā-ukumul ladhīna kuntum taz`umūn The day We shall gather all of them together and say to those who ascribe (partners to God): "Where are the compeers who you claimed (were equal to God)?"
23
ثُمَّ لَمْ تَكُن فِتْنَتُهُمْ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوا۟ وَٱللَّهِ رَبِّنَا مَا كُنَّا مُشْرِكِينَ thumma lam takun fitnatuhum illā an qālū wallāhi rabbinā mā kunnā mushrikīn Then their excuse will be but to say: "By God our Lord, we were not idolaters."
24
ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ كَذَبُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ ۚ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ un-ẓur kayfa kadhabū `alā anfusihim ۚ waḍalla `anhum mā kānū yaftarūn You will see how they will lie against themselves, and all their slanderings will be vain.
25
وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَسْتَمِعُ إِلَيْكَ ۖ وَجَعَلْنَا عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ أَكِنَّةً أَن يَفْقَهُوهُ وَفِىٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَقْرًا ۚ وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ كُلَّ ءَايَةٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِهَا ۚ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءُوكَ يُجَـٰدِلُونَكَ يَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوٓا۟ إِنْ هَـٰذَآ إِلَّآ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ wa minhum man yastami`u ilayk ۖ waja`alnā `alā qulūbihim akinnatan an yafqahūhu wafī ādhānihim waqrā ۚ wa in yaraw kulla āyatin lā yu-minū bihā ۚ ḥattā idhā jā-ūka yujādilūnaka yaqūlul ladhīna kafarū in hādhā illā asāṭīrul-awwalīn There are some among them who listen to you; but We have put a covering on their hearts so that they fail to understand it, and a deafness appears in their ears. Even if they saw all the signs they would not believe in them; and even when they come to you to dispute with you, the unbelievers say: "This is nothing but fables of antiquity."
26
وَهُمْ يَنْهَوْنَ عَنْهُ وَيَنْـَٔوْنَ عَنْهُ ۖ وَإِن يُهْلِكُونَ إِلَّآ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ wahum yanhawna `anhu wayan-awna `anh ۖ wa in yuhlikūna illā anfusahum wa mā yash`urūn And they forbid others from (believing in) it, and themselves keep away from it. But they ruin none but themselves, and do not understand.
27
وَلَوْ تَرَىٰٓ إِذْ وُقِفُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّارِ فَقَالُوا۟ يَـٰلَيْتَنَا نُرَدُّ وَلَا نُكَذِّبَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ رَبِّنَا وَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ walaw tarā idh wuqifū `alan nāri faqālū yālaytanā nuraddu walā nukadhhiba bi-āyāti rabbinā wanakūna minal mu-minīn If you should see them when they are stood before the Fire, they will say: "Ah would that we were sent back (to the world)! We shall not deny the signs of our Lord, and be among those who believe."
28
بَلْ بَدَا لَهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُخْفُونَ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ وَلَوْ رُدُّوا۟ لَعَادُوا۟ لِمَا نُهُوا۟ عَنْهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَـٰذِبُونَ bal badā lahum mā kānū yukhfūna min qabl ۖ walaw ruddū la`ādū limā nuhū `anhu wa innahum lakādhibūn But no. What they were hiding has now become clear to them. If they were sent back they would surely return to what had been forbidden them, for surely they are liars.
29
وَقَالُوٓا۟ إِنْ هِىَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا ٱلدُّنْيَا وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَبْعُوثِينَ waqālū in hiya illā ḥayātunad dunyā wa mā naḥnu bimab`ūthīn They say: "There is no other life but that of this world, and we will not be raised (from the dead)."
30
وَلَوْ تَرَىٰٓ إِذْ وُقِفُوا۟ عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ ۚ قَالَ أَلَيْسَ هَـٰذَا بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚ قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ وَرَبِّنَا ۚ قَالَ فَذُوقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ walaw tarā idh wuqifū `alā rabbihim ۚ qāla alaysa hādhā bil ḥaqq ۚ qālū balā warabbinā ۚ qāla fadhūqul `adhāba bimā kuntum takfurūn If you see them when they are put before their Lord, He will say to them: "Is not this the truth?" They will answer: "Indeed, by our Lord." He will say: "Then taste the agony of punishment for what you had denied."
31
قَدْ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِلِقَآءِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَتْهُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ بَغْتَةً قَالُوا۟ يَـٰحَسْرَتَنَا عَلَىٰ مَا فَرَّطْنَا فِيهَا وَهُمْ يَحْمِلُونَ أَوْزَارَهُمْ عَلَىٰ ظُهُورِهِمْ ۚ أَلَا سَآءَ مَا يَزِرُونَ qad khasiral ladhīna kadhhabū biliqā-illāh ۖ ḥattā idhā jā-at humus sā`atu baghtatan qālū yāḥasratanā `alā mā farraṭnā fīhā wahum yaḥmilūna awzārahum `alā ẓuhūrihim ۚ alā sā-a mā yazirūn They are surely lost who call the meeting with God a lie. When the Hour comes upon them unawares, they will say: "Alas, we neglected it!" and carry their burdens on their backs: How evil the burden they will carry!
32
وَمَا ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَآ إِلَّا لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌ ۖ وَلَلدَّارُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ wa mal ḥayātud dunyā illā la`ibun walahw ۖ walalddārul-ākhiratu khayrul lilladhīna yattaqūn ۗ afalā ta`qilūn As for the life of this world, it is nothing but a frolic and frivolity. The final abode is the best for those who are pious and fear God. Do you not comprehend?
33
قَدْ نَعْلَمُ إِنَّهُۥ لَيَحْزُنُكَ ٱلَّذِى يَقُولُونَ ۖ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَا يُكَذِّبُونَكَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ يَجْحَدُونَ qad na`lamu innahu layaḥzunukal ladhī yaqūlūn ۖ fa-innahum lā yukadhhibūnaka walākinnaẓ ẓālimīna bi-āyātillāhi yajḥadūn We know what they say distresses you. It is not you in fact they accuse of lies, but the wicked deny the revelations of God!
34
وَلَقَدْ كُذِّبَتْ رُسُلٌ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَصَبَرُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَا كُذِّبُوا۟ وَأُوذُوا۟ حَتَّىٰٓ أَتَىٰهُمْ نَصْرُنَا ۚ وَلَا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَكَ مِن نَّبَإِى۟ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ walaqad kudhhibat rusulun min qablika faṣabarū `alā mā kudhhibū wa-ūdhū ḥattā atāhum naṣrunā ۚ walā mubaddila likalimātillāh ۚ walaqad jā-aka min naba-il mursalīn Many an apostle has been accused of lies before you. Yet they bore with fortitude the falsehoods and the hurt until our help arrived. There is no changing the word of God: The news of (past) apostles has come to you already.
35
وَإِن كَانَ كَبُرَ عَلَيْكَ إِعْرَاضُهُمْ فَإِنِ ٱسْتَطَعْتَ أَن تَبْتَغِىَ نَفَقًا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أَوْ سُلَّمًا فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَتَأْتِيَهُم بِـَٔايَةٍ ۚ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَجَمَعَهُمْ عَلَى ٱلْهُدَىٰ ۚ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْجَـٰهِلِينَ wa in kāna kabura `alayka i`rāḍuhum fa-inis-taṭa`ta an tabtaghiya nafaqan fil-arḍi aw sullaman fis samā-i fata-tiyahum bi-āyah ۚ walaw shā-allāhu lajama`ahum `alal-hudā ۚ falā takūnanna minal jāhilīn If their aversion still weighs upon you, seek out a tunnel (going deep) into the earth, or a ladder reaching out to the skies, and bring them a sign: (Even then they will not believe). If God had willed He would have brought them all to the right path. So be not like the pagans.
36
إِنَّمَا يَسْتَجِيبُ ٱلَّذِينَ يَسْمَعُونَ ۘ وَٱلْمَوْتَىٰ يَبْعَثُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ يُرْجَعُونَ innamā yastajībul ladhīna yasma`ūn ۘ wal mawtā yab`athuhumullāhu thumma ilayhi yurja`ūn Only they will respond who can hear. As for the dead, raised they will be by God, then to Him they will be returned.
37
وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ ۚ قُلْ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَادِرٌ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يُنَزِّلَ ءَايَةً وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ waqālū lawlā nuzzila `alayhi āyatun min rabbih ۚ qul innallāha qādirun `alā an yunazzila āyatan walākinna aktharahum lā ya`lamūn They say: "How is it no miracle was sent down to him from his Lord?" Say: "God certainly has power to send down a miracle; but most men cannot understand."
38
وَمَا مِن دَآبَّةٍ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا طَـٰٓئِرٍ يَطِيرُ بِجَنَاحَيْهِ إِلَّآ أُمَمٌ أَمْثَالُكُم ۚ مَّا فَرَّطْنَا فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ مِن شَىْءٍ ۚ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يُحْشَرُونَ wa mā min dābbatin fil-arḍi walā ṭā-iriy yaṭīru bijanāḥayhi illā umamun amthālukum ۚ mā farraṭnā fil kitābi min shay-ī ۚ thumma ilā rabbihim yuḥsharūn There is not a thing that moves on the earth, no bird that flies on its wings, but has a community of its own like yours. There is nothing that We have left out from recording. Then they will all be gathered before their Lord.
39
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا صُمٌّ وَبُكْمٌ فِى ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ ۗ مَن يَشَإِ ٱللَّهُ يُضْلِلْهُ وَمَن يَشَأْ يَجْعَلْهُ عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ wal ladhīna kadhhabū bi-āyātinā ṣummun wabukmun fiẓ ẓulumāt ۗ man yasha-illāhu yuḍlilhu wa man yasha-yaj`alhu `alā ṣirāṭin mustaqīm Those who deny Our revelations are deaf, dumb, and lost in the dark. God sends whosoever He wills astray, and leads whom He will to the straight path.

قُلْ أَرَءَيْتَكُمْ إِنْ أَتَىٰكُمْ عَذَابُ ٱللَّهِ أَوْ أَتَتْكُمُ ٱلسَّاعَةُ أَغَيْرَ ٱللَّهِ تَدْعُونَ إِن كُنتُمْ صَـٰدِقِينَ qul ara aytakum in atākum `adhābullāhi aw atatkumus sā`atu aghayrallāhi tad`ūna in kuntum ṣādiqīn Say: "Have you thought if the punishment of God or the Hour (of Doom) came upon you, would you call to any other than God? Answer, if you are men of truth."
41
بَلْ إِيَّاهُ تَدْعُونَ فَيَكْشِفُ مَا تَدْعُونَ إِلَيْهِ إِن شَآءَ وَتَنسَوْنَ مَا تُشْرِكُونَ bal iyyāhu tad`ūna fayakshifu mā tad`ūna ilayhi in shā-a watansawna mā tushrikūn No: You will call to Him alone; and He will, if He please, remove (the distress) for which you had called Him; and forget those you associate as compeers (with Him)
42
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَمٍ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُم بِٱلْبَأْسَآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَضَرَّعُونَ walaqad arsalnā ilā umamin min qablika fa-akhadhnāhum bil ba-sā-i waḍ ḍarrā-i la`allahum yataḍarra`ūn We have indeed sent (apostles) to many a people before you, and inflicted upon them hardships and afflictions so that they might submit.
43
فَلَوْلَآ إِذْ جَآءَهُم بَأْسُنَا تَضَرَّعُوا۟ وَلَـٰكِن قَسَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ falawlā idh jā-ahum ba-sunā taḍarra`ū walākin qasat qulūbuhum wazayyana lahumush shayṭānu mā kānū ya`malūn Then why did they not submit when Our punishment came upon them? But their hearts were hardened, and Satan made things they were doing look attractive to them.
44
فَلَمَّا نَسُوا۟ مَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ أَبْوَٰبَ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا فَرِحُوا۟ بِمَآ أُوتُوٓا۟ أَخَذْنَـٰهُم بَغْتَةً فَإِذَا هُم مُّبْلِسُونَ falammā nasū mā dhukkirū bihi fataḥnā `alayhim abwāba kulli shay-in ḥattā idhā fariḥū bimā ūtū akhadhnāhum baghtatan fa-idhā hum mublisūn When they had become oblivious of what they were warned, We opened wide the gates of everything to them; yet as they rejoiced at what they were given, We caught them unawares, and they were filled with despair.
45
فَقُطِعَ دَابِرُ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ ۚ وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ faquṭi`a dābirul qawmil ladhīna ẓalamū ۚ wal ḥamdu lillāhi rabbil `ālamīn Thus were the wicked people rooted out of existence to the last. All praise be to God, the Lord of all the worlds.
46
قُلْ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَخَذَ ٱللَّهُ سَمْعَكُمْ وَأَبْصَـٰرَكُمْ وَخَتَمَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِكُم مَّنْ إِلَـٰهٌ غَيْرُ ٱللَّهِ يَأْتِيكُم بِهِ ۗ ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ نُصَرِّفُ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ ثُمَّ هُمْ يَصْدِفُونَ qul ara aytum in akhadhallāhu sam`akum wa-abṣārakum wakhatama `alā qulūbikum man ilāhun ghayrullāhi ya-tīkum bih ۗ un-ẓur kayfa nuṣarriful-āyāti thumma hum yaṣdifūn Say: "Imagine if God takes away your hearing and sight, and sets a seal on your hearts, what deity other than God will restore them to you?" See how We inflect Our signs: Even then they turn aside.
47
قُلْ أَرَءَيْتَكُمْ إِنْ أَتَىٰكُمْ عَذَابُ ٱللَّهِ بَغْتَةً أَوْ جَهْرَةً هَلْ يُهْلَكُ إِلَّا ٱلْقَوْمُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ qul ara aytakum in atākum `adhābullāhi baghtatan aw jahratan hal yuhlaku illal-qawmuẓ ẓālimūn Say: "Imagine if the punishment of God were to come unawares, or openly, who will perish but the evil-doers?"
48
وَمَا نُرْسِلُ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ إِلَّا مُبَشِّرِينَ وَمُنذِرِينَ ۖ فَمَنْ ءَامَنَ وَأَصْلَحَ فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ wa mā nursilul mursalīna illā mubashhirīna wa mundhirīn ۖ faman āmana wa-aṣlaḥa falā khawfun `alayhim walā hum yaḥzanūn We do not send apostles but to give good tidings and to warn. Then those who believe or reform will have neither fear nor regret.
49
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا يَمَسُّهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْسُقُونَ wal ladhīna kadhhabū bi-āyātinā yamassuhumul `adhābu bimā kānū yafsuqūn But those who deny Our messages will be seized by nemesis for being disobedient.
50
قُل لَّآ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ عِندِى خَزَآئِنُ ٱللَّهِ وَلَآ أَعْلَمُ ٱلْغَيْبَ وَلَآ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ إِنِّى مَلَكٌ ۖ إِنْ أَتَّبِعُ إِلَّا مَا يُوحَىٰٓ إِلَىَّ ۚ قُلْ هَلْ يَسْتَوِى ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ وَٱلْبَصِيرُ ۚ أَفَلَا تَتَفَكَّرُونَ qul lā aqūlu lakum `indī khazā-inullāhi walā a`lamul ghayba walā aqūlu lakum innī malak ۖ in attabi`u illā mā yūḥā ilayy ۚ qul hal yastawil-a`mā wal baṣīr ۚ afalā tatafakkarūn Tell them: "I do not say that I possess the treasures of God, or have knowledge of the Unknown, or that I am an angel. I only follow what is sent down to me." And say: "How can a blind man and a man who can see, be alike? Will you not reflect?"
51
وَأَنذِرْ بِهِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ أَن يُحْشَرُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ ۙ لَيْسَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ وَلِىٌّ وَلَا شَفِيعٌ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ wa-andhir bihil ladhīna yakhāfūna an yuḥsharū ilā rabbihim laysa lahum min dūnihi waliyyun walā shafī`ul la`allahum yattaqūn Warn those who fear, through this (Qur'an), that they will be gathered before their Lord, and they will have none to protect or intercede for them apart from Him. They may haply take heed for themselves.
52
وَلَا تَطْرُدِ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُم بِٱلْغَدَوٰةِ وَٱلْعَشِىِّ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَهُۥ ۖ مَا عَلَيْكَ مِنْ حِسَابِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍ وَمَا مِنْ حِسَابِكَ عَلَيْهِم مِّن شَىْءٍ فَتَطْرُدَهُمْ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ walā taṭrudil ladhīna yad`ūna rabbahum bil ghadāti wal `ashiyyi yurīdūna wajhah ۖ mā `alayka min ḥisābihim min shay-in wa mā min ḥisābika `alayhim min shay-in fataṭrudahum fatakūna minaẓ ẓālimīn Do not turn away those who supplicate their Lord morning and evening, seeking His magnificence. You are not accountable for them in the least, nor they for you at all. If you drive them away you will only be unjust.
53
وَكَذَٰلِكَ فَتَنَّا بَعْضَهُم بِبَعْضٍ لِّيَقُولُوٓا۟ أَهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ مَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِم مِّنۢ بَيْنِنَآ ۗ أَلَيْسَ ٱللَّهُ بِأَعْلَمَ بِٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَ wakadhālika fatannā ba`ḍahum biba`ḍin liyaqūlū ahā-ulā-i mannallāhu `alayhim min bayninā ۗ alaysallāhu bi-a`lama bish shākirīn Thus do We try men through one another so that they may ask: "Are these the ones of all of us who have been favoured by God?" Does God not know who are the grateful?
54
وَإِذَا جَآءَكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا فَقُلْ سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ۖ كَتَبَ رَبُّكُمْ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ ٱلرَّحْمَةَ ۖ أَنَّهُۥ مَنْ عَمِلَ مِنكُمْ سُوٓءًۢا بِجَهَـٰلَةٍ ثُمَّ تَابَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ وَأَصْلَحَ فَأَنَّهُۥ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ wa idhā jā-akal ladhīna yu-minūna bi-āyātinā faqul salāmun `alaykum ۖ kataba rabbukum `alā nafsihir raḥmah ۖ annahu man `amila minkum sū-an bijahālatin thumma tāba min ba`dihi wa-aṣlaḥa fa-annahu ghafūrun raḥīm When those who believe in Our revelations come to you, say to them: "Peace on you." Your Lord has prescribed grace for Himself, so that in case one of you commits evil out of ignorance, then feels repentant and reforms, He may be forgiving and kind.
55
وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ وَلِتَسْتَبِينَ سَبِيلُ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ wakadhālika nufaṣṣilul-āyāti walitastabīna sabīlul mujrimīn Thus distinctly do We explain Our signs that the way of sinners may become distinct.
56
قُلْ إِنِّى نُهِيتُ أَنْ أَعْبُدَ ٱلَّذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ قُل لَّآ أَتَّبِعُ أَهْوَآءَكُمْ ۙ قَدْ ضَلَلْتُ إِذًا وَمَآ أَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ qul innī nuhītu an a`budal ladhīna tad`ūna min dūnillāh ۚ qul lā attabi`u ahwā-akum qad ḍalaltu idhan wa mā ana minal muhtadīn Tell them: "I am forbidden to worship those you invoke apart from God." And say: "I will not follow your wishes. If I do, I shall be lost and not be one of those who follow the right path."
57
قُلْ إِنِّى عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّى وَكَذَّبْتُم بِهِۦ ۚ مَا عِندِى مَا تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ بِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنِ ٱلْحُكْمُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ ۖ يَقُصُّ ٱلْحَقَّ ۖ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ ٱلْفَـٰصِلِينَ qul innī `alā bayyinatim min rabbī wakadhhabtum bih ۚ mā `indī mā tasta`jilūna bih ۚ inil ḥukmu illā lillāh ۖ yaquṣṣul ḥaqq ۖ wahuwa khayrul fāṣilīn Tell them: "A clear proof has come to me from my Lord, and Him you deny. But what you wish to be hastened is not within my power. The judgement is only God's. He unfolds the Truth, and is the best of judges."
58
قُل لَّوْ أَنَّ عِندِى مَا تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ بِهِۦ لَقُضِىَ ٱلْأَمْرُ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَكُمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ qul law anna `indī mā tasta`jilūna bihi laquḍiyal-amru baynī wabaynakum ۗ wallāhu a`lamu biẓ ẓālimīn Say: "If what you wish to be hastened were in my power, all matters between you and me would have been settled; God is cognisant of those who are unjust."
59
وَعِندَهُۥ مَفَاتِحُ ٱلْغَيْبِ لَا يَعْلَمُهَآ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا فِى ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ ۚ وَمَا تَسْقُطُ مِن وَرَقَةٍ إِلَّا يَعْلَمُهَا وَلَا حَبَّةٍ فِى ظُلُمَـٰتِ ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا رَطْبٍ وَلَا يَابِسٍ إِلَّا فِى كِتَـٰبٍ مُّبِينٍ wa`indahu mafātiḥul ghaybi lā ya`lamuhā illā huw ۚ waya`lamu mā fil barri wal baḥr ۚ wa mā tasquṭu min waraqatin illā ya`lamuhā walā ḥabbatin fī ẓulumātil-arḍi walā raṭbin walā yābisin illā fī kitābin mubīn He has the keys of the Unknown. No one but He has knowledge; He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls without His knowledge, nor a grain in the darkest (recess) of the earth, nor any thing green or seared that is not recorded in the open book (of nature).
60
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى يَتَوَفَّىٰكُم بِٱلَّيْلِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا جَرَحْتُم بِٱلنَّهَارِ ثُمَّ يَبْعَثُكُمْ فِيهِ لِيُقْضَىٰٓ أَجَلٌ مُّسَمًّى ۖ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ ثُمَّ يُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ wahuwal ladhī yatawaffākum bil layli waya`lamu mā jaraḥtum bin nahāri thumma yab`athukum fīhi liyuqḍā ajalun musammā ۖ thumma ilayhi marji`ukum thumma yunabbi-ukum bimā kuntum ta`malūn It is He indeed who sends you to death at night, and knows what you do in the day, then makes you rise with it again in order that the fixed term of life be fulfilled. Then to Him you will be returned when He will tell you what you did.
61
وَهُوَ ٱلْقَاهِرُ فَوْقَ عِبَادِهِۦ ۖ وَيُرْسِلُ عَلَيْكُمْ حَفَظَةً حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَ أَحَدَكُمُ ٱلْمَوْتُ تَوَفَّتْهُ رُسُلُنَا وَهُمْ لَا يُفَرِّطُونَ wahuwal qāhiru fawqa `ibādih ۖ wayursilu `alaykum ḥafaẓatan ḥattā idhā jā-a aḥadakumul mawtu tawaffat-hu rusulunā wahum lā yufarriṭūn He has power over His creatures, and appoints guardians to watch over them. When death comes to one of you, Our messengers take away his soul, and do not falter.
62
ثُمَّ رُدُّوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ مَوْلَىٰهُمُ ٱلْحَقِّ ۚ أَلَا لَهُ ٱلْحُكْمُ وَهُوَ أَسْرَعُ ٱلْحَـٰسِبِينَ thumma ruddū ilallāhi mawlāhumul ḥaqq ۚ alā lahul ḥukmu wahuwa asra`ul ḥāsibīn Then they are taken to God, their real lord and master. His indeed is the judgement; and He is swift at reckoning.
63
قُلْ مَن يُنَجِّيكُم مِّن ظُلُمَـٰتِ ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ تَدْعُونَهُۥ تَضَرُّعًا وَخُفْيَةً لَّئِنْ أَنجَىٰنَا مِنْ هَـٰذِهِۦ لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَ qul man yunajjīkum min ẓulumātil barri wal baḥri tad`ūnahu taḍarru`an wakhufyatan la-in anjānā min hādhihi lanakūnanna minash shākirīn Ask: "Who is it who comes to your rescue in the darkness of the desert and the sea, and whom you supplicate humbly and unseen: 'If You deliver us from this, we shall indeed he grateful?'
64
قُلِ ٱللَّهُ يُنَجِّيكُم مِّنْهَا وَمِن كُلِّ كَرْبٍ ثُمَّ أَنتُمْ تُشْرِكُونَ qulillāhu yunajjīkum minhā wa min kulli karbin thumma antum tushrikūn Say: "God delivers you from this and every calamity. Even then you ascribe compeers (to Him)!"
65
قُلْ هُوَ ٱلْقَادِرُ عَلَىٰٓ أَن يَبْعَثَ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابًا مِّن فَوْقِكُمْ أَوْ مِن تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِكُمْ أَوْ يَلْبِسَكُمْ شِيَعًا وَيُذِيقَ بَعْضَكُم بَأْسَ بَعْضٍ ۗ ٱنظُرْ كَيْفَ نُصَرِّفُ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَفْقَهُونَ qul huwal qādiru `alā an yab`atha `alaykum `adhāban min fawqikum aw min taḥti arjulikum aw yalbisakum shiya`an wayudhīqa ba`ḍakum ba-sa ba`ḍ ۗ un-ẓur kayfa nuṣarriful-āyāti la`allahum yafqahūn Say: "He has power to send you retribution from the skies above, or the earth beneath your feet, or confound you with divisions among you, and give one the taste of the vengeance of the other." See, how distinctly We explain Our signs that they may understand.
66
وَكَذَّبَ بِهِۦ قَوْمُكَ وَهُوَ ٱلْحَقُّ ۚ قُل لَّسْتُ عَلَيْكُم بِوَكِيلٍ wakadhhaba bihi qawmuka wahuwal ḥaqq ۚ qul lastu `alaykum biwakīl This (Book) has been called by your people a falsehood though it is the truth. Say: "I am not a warden over you."
67
لِّكُلِّ نَبَإٍ مُّسْتَقَرٌّ ۚ وَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ likulli naba-in mustaqarr ۚ wasawfa ta`lamūn A time is fixed for every prophecy; you will come to know in time.
68
وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخُوضُونَ فِىٓ ءَايَـٰتِنَا فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يَخُوضُوا۟ فِى حَدِيثٍ غَيْرِهِۦ ۚ وَإِمَّا يُنسِيَنَّكَ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ فَلَا تَقْعُدْ بَعْدَ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ مَعَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ wa idhā ra-aytal ladhīna yakhūḍūna fī āyātinā fa-a`riḍ `anhum ḥattā yakhūḍū fī ḥadīthin ghayrih ۚ wa immā yunsiyannakash shayṭānu falā taq`ud ba`dadh dhikrā ma`al qawmiẓ ẓālimīn When you see them argue about Our messages, withdraw from their company until they begin to talk of other things. In case the Devil makes you forget, leave the company of these unjust people the moment you remember this.
69
وَمَا عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ مِنْ حِسَابِهِم مِّن شَىْءٍ وَلَـٰكِن ذِكْرَىٰ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ wa mā `alal ladhīna yattaqūna min ḥisābihim min shay-in walākin dhikrā la`allahum yattaqūn As for the heedful and devout, they are not accountable for them, but should give advice: They may haply come to fear God.

Remind them hereby lest a man is doomed for what he has done. He will have none to help him, or intercede for him, other than God; and even if he offer all the ransoms they will not be accepted from him. They are those who will be destroyed by their own acts. There will be scalding water to drink for them and painful punishment, for they had disbelieved.

Say: "God's guidance is (true) guidance, and we have been commanded to submit to the Lord of all the worlds.

The day He will say "Be, " it will be. His word is the truth, His alone the power on the Day when the blast of the trumpet will be sounded. He knows the hidden and the visible. He is all-prudent and all-knowing.

I certainly find you and your people in error."

وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُرِىٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ مَلَكُوتَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَلِيَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُوقِنِينَ wakadhālika nurī ibrāhīma malakūtas samāwāti wal-arḍi waliyakūna minal mūqinīn Thus We showed to Abraham the visible and invisible world of the heavens and the earth, that he could be among those who believe.
76
فَلَمَّا جَنَّ عَلَيْهِ ٱلَّيْلُ رَءَا كَوْكَبًا ۖ قَالَ هَـٰذَا رَبِّى ۖ فَلَمَّآ أَفَلَ قَالَ لَآ أُحِبُّ ٱلْـَٔافِلِينَ falammā janna `alayhil laylu ra-ā kawkabā ۖ qāla hādhā rabbī ۖ falammā afala qāla lā uḥibbul-āfilīn When the night came with her covering of darkness he saw a star, and (Azar, his father) said: "This is my Lord." But when the star set, (Abraham) said: "I love not those that wane."
77
فَلَمَّا رَءَا ٱلْقَمَرَ بَازِغًا قَالَ هَـٰذَا رَبِّى ۖ فَلَمَّآ أَفَلَ قَالَ لَئِن لَّمْ يَهْدِنِى رَبِّى لَأَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ falammā ra al qamara bāzighan qāla hādhā rabbī ۖ falammā afala qāla la-in lam yahdinī rabbī la-akūnanna minal qawmiḍ ḍāllīn When (Azar) saw the moon rise all aglow, he said: "This is my Lord." But even as the moon set, (Abraham) said: "If my Lord had not shown me the way I would surely have gone astray."
78
فَلَمَّا رَءَا ٱلشَّمْسَ بَازِغَةً قَالَ هَـٰذَا رَبِّى هَـٰذَآ أَكْبَرُ ۖ فَلَمَّآ أَفَلَتْ قَالَ يَـٰقَوْمِ إِنِّى بَرِىٓءٌ مِّمَّا تُشْرِكُونَ falammā ra ash shamsa bāzighatan qāla hādhā rabbī hādhā akbar ۖ falammā afalat qāla yāqawmi innī barī-un mimmā tushrikūn When (Azar) saw the sun rise all resplendent, he said: "My Lord is surely this, and the greatest of them all." But the sun also set, and (Abraham) said: "O my people, I am through with those you associate (with God).

إِنِّى وَجَّهْتُ وَجْهِىَ لِلَّذِى فَطَرَ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ حَنِيفًا ۖ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ innī wajjahtu wajhiya lilladhī faṭaras samāwāti wal-arḍa ḥanīfā ۖ wa mā ana minal mushrikīn I have truly turned my face towards Him who created the heavens and the earth: I have chosen one way and am not an idolater."

وَحَآجَّهُۥ قَوْمُهُۥ ۚ قَالَ أَتُحَـٰٓجُّوٓنِّى فِى ٱللَّهِ وَقَدْ هَدَىٰنِ ۚ وَلَآ أَخَافُ مَا تُشْرِكُونَ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ رَبِّى شَيْـًٔا ۗ وَسِعَ رَبِّى كُلَّ شَىْءٍ عِلْمًا ۗ أَفَلَا تَتَذَكَّرُونَ waḥājjahu qawmuh ۚ qāla atuḥājjūnnī fillāhi waqad hadān ۚ walā akhāfu mā tushrikūna bihi illā an yashā-a rabbī shay-ā ۗ wasi`a rabbī kulla shay-in `il-mā ۗ afalā tatadhakkarūn His people argued, and he said: "Do you argue with me about God? He has guided me already, and I fear not what you associate with Him, unless my Lord wills, for held within the knowledge of my Lord is everything. Will you not reflect?
81
وَكَيْفَ أَخَافُ مَآ أَشْرَكْتُمْ وَلَا تَخَافُونَ أَنَّكُمْ أَشْرَكْتُم بِٱللَّهِ مَا لَمْ يُنَزِّلْ بِهِۦ عَلَيْكُمْ سُلْطَـٰنًا ۚ فَأَىُّ ٱلْفَرِيقَيْنِ أَحَقُّ بِٱلْأَمْنِ ۖ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ wakayfa akhāfu mā ashraktum walā takhāfūna annakum ashraktum billāhi mā lam yunazzil bihi `alaykum sulṭānā ۚ fa-ayyul farīqayni aḥaqqu bil-amn ۖ in kuntum ta`lamūn And why should I fear those you associate with Him when you fear not associating others with God for which He has sent down no sanction? Tell me, whose way is the way of peace, if you have the knowledge?
82
ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَلَمْ يَلْبِسُوٓا۟ إِيمَـٰنَهُم بِظُلْمٍ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ لَهُمُ ٱلْأَمْنُ وَهُم مُّهْتَدُونَ alladhīna āmanū walam yalbisū-iymānahum biẓul-min ulā-ika lahumul-amnu wahum muhtadūn They alone have peace who believe and do not intermix belief with denial, and are guided on the right path."

وَتِلْكَ حُجَّتُنَآ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهَآ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ ۚ نَرْفَعُ دَرَجَـٰتٍ مَّن نَّشَآءُ ۗ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ watilka ḥujjatunā ātaynāhā ibrāhīma `alā qawmih ۚ narfa`u darajātin man nashā-u ۗ inna rabbaka ḥakīmun `alīm This is the argument We gave to Abraham against his people. We exalt whosoever We please in rank by degrees. Your Lord is wise and all-knowing.
84
وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥٓ إِسْحَـٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ ۚ كُلًّا هَدَيْنَا ۚ وَنُوحًا هَدَيْنَا مِن قَبْلُ ۖ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِۦ دَاوُۥدَ وَسُلَيْمَـٰنَ وَأَيُّوبَ وَيُوسُفَ وَمُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ ۚ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ wawahabnā lahu is-ḥāqa waya`qūb ۚ kullan hadaynā ۚ wanūḥan hadaynā min qabl ۖ wa min dhurriyyatihi dāwūda wasulaymāna wa-ayyūba wayūsufa wa mūsā wahārūn ۚ wakadhālika najzil muḥsinīn And We gave him Isaac and Jacob and guided them, as We had guided Noah before them, and of his descendants, David and Solomon and Job and Joseph and Moses and Aaron. Thus We reward those who are upright and do good.
85
وَزَكَرِيَّا وَيَحْيَىٰ وَعِيسَىٰ وَإِلْيَاسَ ۖ كُلٌّ مِّنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ wazakariyyā wayaḥyā wa`īsā wa ilyās ۖ kullun minaṣ ṣāliḥīn Zachariah and John We guided, and guided Jesus and Elias who were all among the upright.
86

ذَٰلِكَ هُدَى ٱللَّهِ يَهْدِى بِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ ۚ وَلَوْ أَشْرَكُوا۟ لَحَبِطَ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ dhālika hudallāhi yahdī bihi man yashā-u min `ibādih ۚ walaw ashrakū laḥabiṭa `anhum mā kānū ya`malūn This is God's guidance: He gives among His creatures whom He will. If they had associated others with Him, surely vain would have been all they did.

But if they reject these things We shall entrust them to a people who will not deny.

Say: "I ask no recompense of you for this. It is but a reminder for all the people of the world."

Ask them: "Who then revealed the Book that Moses brought, -- a guidance and light for men, -- which you treat as sheafs of paper, which you display, yet conceal a great deal, though through it you were taught things you did not know before, nor even your fathers knew?" Say: "God," and leave them to the sport of engaging in vain discourse.

وَهَـٰذَا كِتَـٰبٌ أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ مُبَارَكٌ مُّصَدِّقُ ٱلَّذِى بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَلِتُنذِرَ أُمَّ ٱلْقُرَىٰ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَا ۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ ۖ وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ wahādhā kitābun anzalnāhu mubārakun muṣaddiqul ladhī bayna yadayhi walitundhira ummal qurā wa man ḥawlahā ۚ wal ladhīna yu-minūna bil-ākhirati yu-minūna bih ۖ wahum `alā ṣalātihim yuḥāfiẓūn And this (Qur'an) is another Book that We have revealed, blessed, affirming the earlier (revelations), so that you may warn the people of (Makkah) the town of towns, and those who live around it. Those who believe in the life to come shall believe in it and be watchful of their moral obligations.

If you could see the evil creatures in the agony of death with the angels thrusting forward their hands (saying): "Yield up your souls: This day you will suffer ignominious punishment for uttering lies about God and rejecting His signs with arrogance."

This is God: So whither do you stray?

Such is the measure appointed by Him, the omnipotent and all-wise.

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلنُّجُومَ لِتَهْتَدُوا۟ بِهَا فِى ظُلُمَـٰتِ ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ ۗ قَدْ فَصَّلْنَا ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ wahuwal ladhī ja`ala lakumun nujūma litahtadū bihā fī ẓulumātil barri wal baḥr ۗ qad faṣṣalnal-āyāti liqawmiy ya`lamūn It is He who made the stars by which you reckon your way through the darkness of the desert and the sea. Distinct have We made Our signs for those who recognise.
98

How clear have We made Our signs for those who understand.
99

Look at the fruits, how they appear on the trees, and they ripen. In all these are signs for those who believe.

All praise be to Him. He is much too exalted for things they associate (with Him).

So pay homage to Him, for He takes care of everything.
103

قَدْ جَآءَكُم بَصَآئِرُ مِن رَّبِّكُمْ ۖ فَمَنْ أَبْصَرَ فَلِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖ وَمَنْ عَمِىَ فَعَلَيْهَا ۚ وَمَآ أَنَا۠ عَلَيْكُم بِحَفِيظٍ qad jā-akum baṣā-iru min rabbikum ۖ faman abṣara falinafsih ۖ wa man `amiya fa`alayhā ۚ wa mā ana `alaykum biḥafīẓ To you have come signs from your Lord, (and the light of understanding). So any one who sees (and understands) does so for himself, and any one who turns blind shall suffer the consequences alone. (Say:) "I am not a guardian over you (to make you understand)."
105
وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُصَرِّفُ ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ وَلِيَقُولُوا۟ دَرَسْتَ وَلِنُبَيِّنَهُۥ لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ wakadhālika nuṣarriful-āyāti waliyaqūlū darasta walinubayyinahu liqawmiy ya`lamūn Thus in varied ways We explain Our signs so that they may say: "You have been instructed," and that We might make it clear to those who understand.
106
ٱتَّبِعْ مَآ أُوحِىَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ ۖ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ ittabi` mā ūḥiya ilayka min rabbik ۖ lā ilāha illā huw ۖ wa-a`riḍ `anil mushrikīn So follow what is sent down to you by your Lord, for homage is due to no one but God, and turn away from idolaters.
107
وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مَآ أَشْرَكُوا۟ ۗ وَمَا جَعَلْنَـٰكَ عَلَيْهِمْ حَفِيظًا ۖ وَمَآ أَنتَ عَلَيْهِم بِوَكِيلٍ walaw shā-allāhu mā ashrakū ۗ wa mā ja`alnāka `alayhim ḥafīẓā ۖ wa mā anta `alayhim biwakīl Had He willed they would not have been idolaters. We have not appointed you their guardian, nor are you their pleader.

وَلَا تَسُبُّوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ فَيَسُبُّوا۟ ٱللَّهَ عَدْوًۢا بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ۗ كَذَٰلِكَ زَيَّنَّا لِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ عَمَلَهُمْ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِم مَّرْجِعُهُمْ فَيُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ walā tasubbul ladhīna yad`ūna min dūnillāhi fayasubbullāha `adwan bighayri `il-m ۗ kadhālika zayyannā likulli ummatin `amalahum thumma ilā rabbihim marji`uhum fayunabbi-uhum bimā kānū ya`malūn Do not revile those who invoke others apart from God, lest they begin to revile God out of malice and ignorance. We have made attractive their deeds to every people. They have to go back to their Lord, when He will tell them what they used to do.
109
وَأَقْسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَـٰنِهِمْ لَئِن جَآءَتْهُمْ ءَايَةٌ لَّيُؤْمِنُنَّ بِهَا ۚ قُلْ إِنَّمَا ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ وَمَا يُشْعِرُكُمْ أَنَّهَآ إِذَا جَآءَتْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ wa-aqsamū billāhi jahda aymānihim la-in jā-at hum āyatun layu-minunna bihā ۚ qul innamal-āyātu `indallāh ۖ wa mā yush`irukum annahā idhā jā-at lā yu-minūn They solemnly swear by God: "If a sign comes to us we shall certainly believe in it." Tell them: "The signs are with God." Yet for all you know they will not believe if the signs came to them.
110
وَنُقَلِّبُ أَفْـِٔدَتَهُمْ وَأَبْصَـٰرَهُمْ كَمَا لَمْ يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِهِۦٓ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَنَذَرُهُمْ فِى طُغْيَـٰنِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ wanuqallibu af-idatahum wa-abṣārahum kamā lam yu-minū bihi awwala marratin wanadharuhum fī ṭughyānihim ya`mahūn We shall turn their hearts and their eyes, for they did not believe them at the very first, and leave them to wander perplexed in bewilderment.
111
وَلَوْ أَنَّنَا نَزَّلْنَآ إِلَيْهِمُ ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ وَكَلَّمَهُمُ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ وَحَشَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ قُبُلًا مَّا كَانُوا۟ لِيُؤْمِنُوٓا۟ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ يَجْهَلُونَ walaw annanā nazzalnā ilayhimul malā-ikata wakallamahumul mawtā waḥasharnā `alayhim kulla shay-in qubulan mā kānū liyu-minū illā an yashā-allāhu walākinna aktharahum yajhalūn Even if We send down the angels to them, and the dead should speak to them, and We gather all things before their eyes, they will not believe, unless God should will, for most of them are ignorant.
112
وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَا لِكُلِّ نَبِىٍّ عَدُوًّا شَيَـٰطِينَ ٱلْإِنسِ وَٱلْجِنِّ يُوحِى بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍ زُخْرُفَ ٱلْقَوْلِ غُرُورًا ۚ وَلَوْ شَآءَ رَبُّكَ مَا فَعَلُوهُ ۖ فَذَرْهُمْ وَمَا يَفْتَرُونَ wakadhālika ja`alnā likulli nabiyyin `aduwwan shayāṭīnal-insi wal jinni yūḥī ba`ḍuhum ilā ba`ḍin zukhrufal qawli ghurūrā ۚ walaw shā-a rabbuka mā fa`alūh ۖ fadharhum wa mā yaftarūn That is how We have made for each apostle opponents, the satans among men and jinns, who inspire one another with deceitful talk. But if your Lord had willed they would not have done so. Pay no attention to them and to what they fabricate.
113
وَلِتَصْغَىٰٓ إِلَيْهِ أَفْـِٔدَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ وَلِيَرْضَوْهُ وَلِيَقْتَرِفُوا۟ مَا هُم مُّقْتَرِفُونَ walitaṣghā ilayhi af-idatul ladhīna lā yu-minūna bil-ākhirati waliyarḍawhu waliyaqtarifū mā hum muqtarifūn Let those who do not believe in the life to come, listen to it and be pleased with it, and let them gain what they may gain.
114
أَفَغَيْرَ ٱللَّهِ أَبْتَغِى حَكَمًا وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ إِلَيْكُمُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ مُفَصَّلًا ۚ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمُ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ يَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهُۥ مُنَزَّلٌ مِّن رَّبِّكَ بِٱلْحَقِّ ۖ فَلَا تَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمُمْتَرِينَ afaghayrallāhi abtaghī ḥakaman wahuwal ladhī anzala ilaykumul kitāba mufaṣṣalā ۚ wal ladhīna ātaynāhumul kitāba ya`lamūna annahu munazzalun min rabbika bil ḥaqq ۖ falā takūnanna minal mumtarīn (Say): "Then should I seek (the source of) law elsewhere than God, when it is He who has revealed this Book to you, which distinctly explains (everything)?" Those to whom We have given the Book know it has been sent by your Lord in truth. So be not a sceptic.
115
وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَتُ رَبِّكَ صِدْقًا وَعَدْلًا ۚ لَّا مُبَدِّلَ لِكَلِمَـٰتِهِۦ ۚ وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ watammat kalimatu rabbika ṣidqan wa`adlā ۚ lā mubaddila likalimātih ۚ wahuwas samī`ul `alīm Perfected are the laws of your Lord in truth and justice, and there is no changing His laws. He is all-hearing and all-knowing.
116
وَإِن تُطِعْ أَكْثَرَ مَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ يُضِلُّوكَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَإِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَخْرُصُونَ wa in tuṭi` akthara man fil-arḍi yuḍillūka `an sabīlillāh ۚ in yattabi`ūna illaẓ ẓanna wa in hum illā yakhruṣūn If you follow the majority of people on the earth, they will lead you astray from the path of God, for they follow only conjecture and surmise.
117
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ مَن يَضِلُّ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ ۖ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ inna rabbaka huwa a`lamu man yaḍillu `an sabīlih ۖ wahuwa a`lamu bil muhtadīn Your Lord surely knows those who have strayed from his path, and knows those who are rightly guided.
118
فَكُلُوا۟ مِمَّا ذُكِرَ ٱسْمُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ إِن كُنتُم بِـَٔايَـٰتِهِۦ مُؤْمِنِينَ fakulū mimmā dhukiras-mullāhi `alayhi in kuntum bi-āyātihi mu-minīn Eat only that over which the name of God has been pronounced, if you truly believe in His commands.
119
وَمَا لَكُمْ أَلَّا تَأْكُلُوا۟ مِمَّا ذُكِرَ ٱسْمُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَقَدْ فَصَّلَ لَكُم مَّا حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِلَّا مَا ٱضْطُرِرْتُمْ إِلَيْهِ ۗ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا لَّيُضِلُّونَ بِأَهْوَآئِهِم بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ ۗ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِٱلْمُعْتَدِينَ wa mā lakum allā ta-kulū mimmā dhukiras-mullāhi `alayhi waqad faṣṣala lakum mā ḥarrama `alaykum illā maḍ-ṭurirtum ilayh ۗ wa inna kathīral layuḍillūna bi-ahwā-ihim bighayri `il-m ۗ inna rabbaka huwa a`lamu bil mu`tadīn And why should you not eat of that over which the name of God has been pronounced, when He has made it distinctly clear what is forbidden, unless you are constrained to do so. Surely many (men) mislead others into following their vain desires through lack of knowledge. Your Lord certainly knows the transgressors.
120
وَذَرُوا۟ ظَـٰهِرَ ٱلْإِثْمِ وَبَاطِنَهُۥٓ ۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَكْسِبُونَ ٱلْإِثْمَ سَيُجْزَوْنَ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَقْتَرِفُونَ wadharū ẓāhiral-ithmi wabāṭinah ۚ innal ladhīna yaksibūnal-ithma sayujzawna bimā kānū yaqtarifūn Discard both the visible and invisible sin. For those who sin will be punished for what they have done.
121
وَلَا تَأْكُلُوا۟ مِمَّا لَمْ يُذْكَرِ ٱسْمُ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِسْقٌ ۗ وَإِنَّ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينَ لَيُوحُونَ إِلَىٰٓ أَوْلِيَآئِهِمْ لِيُجَـٰدِلُوكُمْ ۖ وَإِنْ أَطَعْتُمُوهُمْ إِنَّكُمْ لَمُشْرِكُونَ walā ta-kulū mimmā lam yudhkaris-mullāhi `alayhi wa innahu lafisq ۗ wa innash shayāṭīna layūḥūna ilā awliyā-ihim liyujādilūkum ۖ wa in aṭa`tumūhum innakum lamushrikūn Do not eat of that over which God's name has not been pronounced, for that would amount to exceeding the limits of law. Certainly the devils inspire their proteges to dispute with you: If you obey them, you will surely become an idolater.
122
أَوَمَن كَانَ مَيْتًا فَأَحْيَيْنَـٰهُ وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُۥ نُورًا يَمْشِى بِهِۦ فِى ٱلنَّاسِ كَمَن مَّثَلُهُۥ فِى ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ لَيْسَ بِخَارِجٍ مِّنْهَا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ awa man kāna maytan fa-aḥyaynāhu waja`alnā lahu nūran yamshī bihi fin nāsi kaman mathaluhu fiẓ ẓulumāti laysa bikhārijin minhā ۚ kadhālika zuyyina lilkāfirīna mā kānū ya`malūn Can he who was lifeless, to whom We gave life, and gave him a light in whose glow he walks among men, be like him who is used to darkness from which he can never emerge? Thus have been their doings made attractive to unbelievers.
123
وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَا فِى كُلِّ قَرْيَةٍ أَكَـٰبِرَ مُجْرِمِيهَا لِيَمْكُرُوا۟ فِيهَا ۖ وَمَا يَمْكُرُونَ إِلَّا بِأَنفُسِهِمْ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ wakadhālika ja`alnā fī kulli qaryatin akābira mujrimīhā liyamkurū fīhā ۖ wa mā yamkurūna illā bi-anfusihim wa mā yash`urūn And thus have We placed in every city the greatest of the sinners to contrive and deceive; yet they contrive against no one but themselves even though they do not know.
124
وَإِذَا جَآءَتْهُمْ ءَايَةٌ قَالُوا۟ لَن نُّؤْمِنَ حَتَّىٰ نُؤْتَىٰ مِثْلَ مَآ أُوتِىَ رُسُلُ ٱللَّهِ ۘ ٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ حَيْثُ يَجْعَلُ رِسَالَتَهُۥ ۗ سَيُصِيبُ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا۟ صَغَارٌ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَعَذَابٌ شَدِيدٌۢ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَمْكُرُونَ wa idhā jā-at hum āyatun qālū lan nu-mina ḥattā nu-tā mithla mā ūtiya rusulullāh ۘ allāhu a`lamu ḥaythu yaj`alu risālatah ۗ sayuṣībul ladhīna ajramū ṣaghārun `indallāhi wa`adhābun shadīdun bimā kānū yamkurūn Every time a sign comes to them they say: "We shall never believe till what God's apostles had been given comes to us." God knows best where to direct His messages. A degradation will befall the sinners and chastisement from God for deceiving.
125
فَمَن يُرِدِ ٱللَّهُ أَن يَهْدِيَهُۥ يَشْرَحْ صَدْرَهُۥ لِلْإِسْلَـٰمِ ۖ وَمَن يُرِدْ أَن يُضِلَّهُۥ يَجْعَلْ صَدْرَهُۥ ضَيِّقًا حَرَجًا كَأَنَّمَا يَصَّعَّدُ فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يَجْعَلُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلرِّجْسَ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ faman yuridillāhu an yahdiyahu yashraḥ ṣadrahu lilislām ۖ wa man yurid an yuḍillahu yaj`al ṣadrahu ḍayyiqan ḥarajan ka-annamā yaṣṣa``adu fis samā-i ۚ kadhālika yaj`alullāhur rijsa `alal ladhīna lā yu-minūn Thus God guides whomsoever He please by opening wide his breast to surrender; and Straitens the breasts of those He allows to go astray, (who feel suffocated) as if they were ascending the skies. Thus will God punish those who do not believe.
126
وَهَـٰذَا صِرَٰطُ رَبِّكَ مُسْتَقِيمًا ۗ قَدْ فَصَّلْنَا ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَذَّكَّرُونَ wahādhā ṣirāṭu rabbika mustaqīmā ۗ qad faṣṣalnal-āyāti liqawmiy yadhhakkarūn This is the straight path of your Lord. Distinct have We made Our signs for those who reflect.
127
لَهُمْ دَارُ ٱلسَّلَـٰمِ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ ۖ وَهُوَ وَلِيُّهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ lahum dārus salāmi `inda rabbihim ۖ wahuwa waliyyuhum bimā kānū ya`malūn For them is an abode of peace with their Lord. He will be their defender as reward for what they did.
128
وَيَوْمَ يَحْشُرُهُمْ جَمِيعًا يَـٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ قَدِ ٱسْتَكْثَرْتُم مِّنَ ٱلْإِنسِ ۖ وَقَالَ أَوْلِيَآؤُهُم مِّنَ ٱلْإِنسِ رَبَّنَا ٱسْتَمْتَعَ بَعْضُنَا بِبَعْضٍ وَبَلَغْنَآ أَجَلَنَا ٱلَّذِىٓ أَجَّلْتَ لَنَا ۚ قَالَ ٱلنَّارُ مَثْوَىٰكُمْ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ ۗ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ wayawma yaḥshuruhum jamī`an yāma`sharal jinni qadis-takthartum minal-ins ۖ waqāla awliyā-uhum minal-insi rabbanas-tamta`a ba`ḍunā biba`ḍin wabalaghnā ajalanal ladhī ajjalta lanā ۚ qālan nāru mathwākum khālidīna fīhā illā mā shā-allāh ۗ inna rabbaka ḥakīmun `alīm On the day He will gather them together, (He will say:) "O you assembly of jinns, you made great use of men." But their proteges among men will say: "O our Lord, we lived a life of mutual gain, but have now reached the term You ordained for us." "Your abode is Hell," He will say, "where you will dwell for ever, unless God please otherwise." Verily your Lord is wise and all-knowing.
129
وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُوَلِّى بَعْضَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ بَعْضًۢا بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ wakadhālika nuwallī ba`ḍaẓ ẓālimīna ba`ḍan bimā kānū yaksibūn Thus do We place some sinners over others as requital for their deeds.
130
يَـٰمَعْشَرَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ أَلَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ رُسُلٌ مِّنكُمْ يَقُصُّونَ عَلَيْكُمْ ءَايَـٰتِى وَيُنذِرُونَكُمْ لِقَآءَ يَوْمِكُمْ هَـٰذَا ۚ قَالُوا۟ شَهِدْنَا عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِنَا ۖ وَغَرَّتْهُمُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَشَهِدُوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ كَـٰفِرِينَ yāma`sharal jinni wal-insi alam ya-tikum rusulun minkum yaquṣṣūna `alaykum āyātī wayundhirūnakum liqā-a yawmikum hādhā ۚ qālū shahidnā `alā anfusinā ۖ wagharrat-humul ḥayātud dunyā washahidū `alā anfusihim annahum kānū kāfirīn O you assembly of jinns and men, did not apostles come to you from among you, communicating My signs to you, bringing warnings of this your day (of Doom)?" They will answer: "We bear witness to our sins." They were surely deluded by the life of the world, and bore witness against themselves because they were unbelievers.
131
ذَٰلِكَ أَن لَّمْ يَكُن رَّبُّكَ مُهْلِكَ ٱلْقُرَىٰ بِظُلْمٍ وَأَهْلُهَا غَـٰفِلُونَ dhālika an lam yakun rabbuka muhlikal qurā biẓul-min wa-ahluhā ghāfilūn And this (so that it may be clear) that your Lord does not destroy towns and cities arbitrarily while the citizens remain unaware.
132
وَلِكُلٍّ دَرَجَـٰتٌ مِّمَّا عَمِلُوا۟ ۚ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِغَـٰفِلٍ عَمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ walikullin darajātun mimmā `amilū ۚ wa mā rabbuka bighāfilin `ammā ya`malūn Every one has his place according to his deeds, for your Lord is not negligent of what you do.
133
وَرَبُّكَ ٱلْغَنِىُّ ذُو ٱلرَّحْمَةِ ۚ إِن يَشَأْ يُذْهِبْكُمْ وَيَسْتَخْلِفْ مِنۢ بَعْدِكُم مَّا يَشَآءُ كَمَآ أَنشَأَكُم مِّن ذُرِّيَّةِ قَوْمٍ ءَاخَرِينَ warabbukal ghaniyyu dhur raḥmah ۚ in yasha-yudh-hibkum wayastakhlif min ba`dikum mā yashā-u kamā ansha-akum min dhurriyyati qawmin ākharīn Your Lord is all-sufficient and full of benevolence. He can take you away if He please, and make whom He will succeed you, as He had raised you from the progeny of others.
134
إِنَّ مَا تُوعَدُونَ لَـَٔاتٍ ۖ وَمَآ أَنتُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ inna mā tū`adūna la-āt ۖ wa mā antum bimu`jizīn The promise that was made to you is bound to be fulfilled. It is not in your power to defeat it.
135
قُلْ يَـٰقَوْمِ ٱعْمَلُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمْ إِنِّى عَامِلٌ ۖ فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ مَن تَكُونُ لَهُۥ عَـٰقِبَةُ ٱلدَّارِ ۗ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُفْلِحُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ qul yāqawmi'-malū `alā makānatikum innī `āmil ۖ fasawfa ta`lamūna man takūnu lahu `āqibatud dār ۗ innahu lā yufliḥuẓ ẓālimūn Tell them: "O my people, go on acting on your part, I am acting on mine. You will soon know whose is the guerdon of life to come." The wicked will not succeed.
136
وَجَعَلُوا۟ لِلَّهِ مِمَّا ذَرَأَ مِنَ ٱلْحَرْثِ وَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ نَصِيبًا فَقَالُوا۟ هَـٰذَا لِلَّهِ بِزَعْمِهِمْ وَهَـٰذَا لِشُرَكَآئِنَا ۖ فَمَا كَانَ لِشُرَكَآئِهِمْ فَلَا يَصِلُ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ لِلَّهِ فَهُوَ يَصِلُ إِلَىٰ شُرَكَآئِهِمْ ۗ سَآءَ مَا يَحْكُمُونَ waja`alū lillāhi mimmā dhara-a minal ḥarthi wal-an`āmi naṣīban faqālū hādhā lillāhi biza`mihim wahādhā lishurakā-inā ۖ famā kāna lishurakā-ihim falā yaṣilu ilallāh ۖ wa mā kāna lillāhi fahuwa yaṣilu ilā shurakā-ihim ۗ sā-a mā yaḥkumūn They allocate a share from God's own created fields and cattle to God, and they say: "This is God's" -- or so they think -- "and that, of the compeers of God," so that what belongs to the compeers does not reach God, but that which is God's may reach the compeers (set up by them). How bad is the judgement that they make!
137
وَكَذَٰلِكَ زَيَّنَ لِكَثِيرٍ مِّنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ قَتْلَ أَوْلَـٰدِهِمْ شُرَكَآؤُهُمْ لِيُرْدُوهُمْ وَلِيَلْبِسُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ دِينَهُمْ ۖ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مَا فَعَلُوهُ ۖ فَذَرْهُمْ وَمَا يَفْتَرُونَ wakadhālika zayyana likathīrin minal mushrikīna qatla awlādihim shurakā-uhum liyurdūhum waliyalbisū `alayhim dīnahum ۖ walaw shā-allāhu mā fa`alūh ۖ fadharhum wa mā yaftarūn In the same way have their companions shown many unbelievers the killing of their children as desirable in order to ruin them and falsify their faith. If God had so willed they would never have done so. Leave them to their falsehoods.
138
وَقَالُوا۟ هَـٰذِهِۦٓ أَنْعَـٰمٌ وَحَرْثٌ حِجْرٌ لَّا يَطْعَمُهَآ إِلَّا مَن نَّشَآءُ بِزَعْمِهِمْ وَأَنْعَـٰمٌ حُرِّمَتْ ظُهُورُهَا وَأَنْعَـٰمٌ لَّا يَذْكُرُونَ ٱسْمَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْهَا ٱفْتِرَآءً عَلَيْهِ ۚ سَيَجْزِيهِم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ waqālū hādhihi an`āmun waḥarthun ḥijrul lā yaṭ`amuhā illā man nashā-u biza`mihim wa-an`āmun ḥurrimat ẓuhūruhā wa-an`āmul lā yadhkurūnas-mallāhi `alayhaf-tirā-an `alayh ۚ sayajzīhim bimā kānū yaftarūn They also say: "These cattle and these crops are consecrated. None may eat of them other than those we permit," -- so they assert. "And the use of these cattle is forbidden for carrying burden." They do not pronounce the name of God on certain animals, inventing lies against Him. He will punish them for what they fabricate.
139
وَقَالُوا۟ مَا فِى بُطُونِ هَـٰذِهِ ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ خَالِصَةٌ لِّذُكُورِنَا وَمُحَرَّمٌ عَلَىٰٓ أَزْوَٰجِنَا ۖ وَإِن يَكُن مَّيْتَةً فَهُمْ فِيهِ شُرَكَآءُ ۚ سَيَجْزِيهِمْ وَصْفَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٌ waqālū mā fī buṭūni hādhihil-an`āmi khāliṣatun lidhukūrinā wa muḥarramun `alā azwājinā ۖ wa in yakun maytatan fahum fīhi shurakā-u ۚ sayajzīhim waṣfahum ۚ innahu ḥakīmun `alīm And they say: "Whatever is in the wombs of these cattle is only meant for men and forbidden our women; but in case it should be still-born both could eat it." God will punish them for what they assert. He is all-wise and all-knowing.
140
قَدْ خَسِرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَتَلُوٓا۟ أَوْلَـٰدَهُمْ سَفَهًۢا بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَحَرَّمُوا۟ مَا رَزَقَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱفْتِرَآءً عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۚ قَدْ ضَلُّوا۟ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ مُهْتَدِينَ qad khasiral ladhīna qatalū awlādahum safahan bighayri `il-min waḥarramū mā razaqahumullāhuf-tirā-an `alallāh ۚ qad ḍallū wa mā kānū muhtadīn They will surely perish who kill their offspring in ignorance foolhardily, and forbid the food that God has given them by fabricating lies against God. Misguided are they surely, and will never come to guidance.
